Learning spaces at Colac Primary School are designed to be calm, structured and supportive. Teachers clearly explain learning goals in child-friendly ways so students understand what they are learning and why it matters.

Lessons follow a consistent structure. Teachers model new learning, students practise together and then work independently. This approach supports confidence, understanding and successful application of learning.

Teachers closely monitor learning during each lesson. They provide feedback, adjust support and offer extension to ensure all students are appropriately challenged and able to make progress.

Classrooms are inclusive and purposefully designed to support learning. They reflect research about how students learn, including cognitive load theory, by minimising unnecessary distractions and supporting focus. Clear routines, positive relationships and high expectations help students feel safe, engaged and ready to learn.
